Minneapolis, MN:
Twin City Twisters (TCT) took home first place in all 4 levels at the 2008 USAG Women’s Level 7-8-9-10 Minnesota State Gymnastics Meet. TCT is the first gym to accomplish this feat since the new levels were established by USA Gymnastics in 1990. The state meet consisted of 377 of the highest level gymnasts, representing 34 clubs, from around the entire state.
This ends a great season for the level 7’s, while the level 8-9-10’s move on to regional and national competition. The level 7 team put up a huge score of 114.9, one of, if not the highest team scores ever recorded in USA Gymnastics in Minnesota. All 28 TCT level 8, 9, &10 gymnasts qualified to move on to the seven state regional competition, in Sioux Falls, SD, on April 18 – 20.
Mike Hunger, TCT Gym owner couldn’t be more proud of the gymnast’s accomplishments; “The titles reflect what I already knew, in the 30 years I have been coaching gymnastics, this is the finest group of athletes & coaches I’ve ever worked with.”
Individually, 9 gymnasts won state All-Around titles in their respective age groups, while 14 different gymnasts brought home a total of 21 individual event titles. Gymnasts on this team come from all over the area; from St. Cloud, to Rosemount, and just about every city in between.
In addition to representing Minnesota in the Regional 4 Championships, Level 9 gymnasts will compete to qualify for the Junior Olympic Western Championship on May 9th – 11th, in St. Charles, MO. Level 10 gymnasts will compete to qualify for the Junior Olympic National Championship on May 16th – 18th, in Kissimmee, FL..
