TCT Girls Recreational

Program Information

Philosophy

To provide a safe, positive environment where children can learn the fantastic movement potential of the human body through the sport of gymnastics

Objectives

  • To develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and kinesthetic awareness.
  • To develop self-discipline and the ability to concentrate on and analyze physical movement.
  • To install physical activity as a daily part of life.
  • To develop a positive self-image and self-confidence through acquisition of gymnastics skills.

Format

This is a multilevel program where children progress from level to level at their own pace. Classes are divided into groups according to age and ability. Great care is taken to teach skills in a thorough and progressive manner to ensure against "gaps" that might restrict their gymnastics potential in later years. At the end of Spring Session, we do show which parents are able to observe from inside the gym.

Girls Beginner classes involve basic gymnastic skills on all the girls events; floor, uneven bars, balance beam, vault, and trampoline. The girls are evaluated mid-session so parents can see progress on all 4 of the women's events plus trampoline. Some skills include backward roll, handstand, and a cartwheel on floor, front flip to seat and a back handspring over a barrel on trampoline.

Girls Beginner 9+ has the same description as girls beginners but is designed for girls 10 and older just starting gymnastics.

Girls Intermediate 1 & 2 These classes have higher level skills and utilizes all the equipment of beginners. Intermediate also works on easier skills due to the importance of doing the skill properly. Some skills included in the intermediate class curriculum are; back hip circle and squat-on on bars, bridge kick over, back walkover and round off on floor, and forward roll and split leap on beam. All girls in the intermediate classes must either have had girls beginners or been tested.

Girls Intermediate 9+ has the same description as girls intermediate but is designed for girls 10 and older.

Girls Intermediate 3 & 4 move up to 2 hours per class due to the difficulty of the skills. With 2 hours per class the girls have more time on an event. Skills include; long hang pullover and underswing dismount on bars, cartwheel and handstand on beam, front flip and back handspring on tramp, and front handspring and round off on floor.

Girls Advanced skills include; glide kip and front hip circle on bars, back tuck and layout on tramp, split leap and back walkover on beam, and roundoff-back handspring-back tuck on floor.

Girls Advanced 2 is TEACHER RECOMMENDED ONLY.

Girls Jr./Sr. High is great for High School competitive gymnasts.
